GRA's CAN NOW UNIONIZE!

GEOC IS HERE FOR YOU.

Up until recently, Public Act 45 in Michigan Law had prohibited Graduate Research Assistants from organizing in their workplace, deeming that research assistants were not public employees. Recently, this has been overturned, making it fully legal for research assistants to unionize!

This is a significant development that will empower GRAs to have a stronger voice advocating for fair treatment, improved work conditions, and better benefits.

The Graduate Employees Organizing Committee (GEOC) is the union that represents Graduate Workers, namely Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTAs) and Graduate Student Assistants (GSAs) at Wayne State University.

GEOC is here to help Wayne State GRA's Unionize!

Why GRA's should Unionize

Unionizing is an important step towards ensuring fair treatment and protection of workers' rights. By coming together and forming a union, workers can negotiate better wages, benefits, and working conditions. It also provides a collective voice to address workplace issues and advocate for change. Unionizing empowers workers and strengthens the workforce as a whole.
