You Shape our Union
GEOC is composed of graduate employees and students at Wayne State University. As graduate employees, it's important to stand in solidarity to ensure we are treated with respect and dignity and that we have a say in our work and school environment. Our mosaic of members is made up students from all departments on campus and reflects Wayne State's diverse population. Below are some ways to get involved in the Union:
Become a Member!
Fill out a membership form online, or send us your information, and we'll pay you a visit to help you learn more about becoming a member. Our power is in our numbers: the more members GEOC has, the more seriously the University will take us. Members also have voting rights and can run for elected positions within GEOC.
Contribute to GEOC!
GRAs, other WSU graduate students, alumni, and supporters can make a one-time or recurring payment of Solidarity Dues to help GEOC fight for a more equitable university.
Become a Steward!
Stewards are representatives who keep members in their departments informed about their rights, are active in the union's work and keep the union informed about goings-on in the department.
Stewardship is a great way of developing leadership qualities and knowing other students from different departments.
